From March 9 to 11 there will be competitions in speed skating "The Open Baikal Marathon".
It will traditionally take place on the ice of Lake Baikal near the village of Sakhurta, Olkhon region. Baikal is one of the oldest lakes in the world and the deepest lake in the world. Baikal is one of the ten largest lakes in the world. Its average depth is about 730 meters, the maximum - 1637 meters. In 1996, Baikal was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The marathon will be held for the sixth time, will bring together children and adults, professionals and amateurs, all those who are not indifferent to winter sports, active rest and healthy lifestyle. The Baikal marathon on skates is held on a pre-prepared track on the ice of Lake Baikal, for participants. The kitchen will work; there are rooms with heating for changing clothes.
On the first day of the competition, on March 9, the night race will be held, on March 10, a race in bathing suits and races at a distance of 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 km will be planned, and on March 11, an excursion program will be organized for participants and guests.
NTU-Service will help to organize a trip to Baikal with accommodation in hotels and an excursion program, as well as in providing tour guides and interpreters during the trip.
