The 2018 FIFA World Cup is happening in Russia, and this means that there are many related events happening in the host cities. For example, Sochi, has opened a museum dedicated to the football ball and its history. Artists who specialise in the creation of frescos painted frescos in the Sochi Museum. One of the frescos features some well-known football players holding Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi in their arms. “You can approach them; the image is very realistic and it seems that anyone can shake their hands” – said the head of the museum. The museum features a collection of over 800 balls, including the one from the World Cup, the Champion’s League and national championships, as well as other old balls, such as 19th century ball made of sheepskin filled with dust.
